Manchester United vs. Arsenal

2-8, Premier League, Old Trafford, 28/8 -11
Walcott 48,
van Persie

A part of me died watching Arsenal today, it must be the worst game so far of my short career as Arsenal fan, and unfortunately that says a lot!

Going to stick with what I said after the Liverpool game, this is not to be our season... At least van Persie and Walcott has looked good so far this season! They are the only ones to score for us this season...

We have too many injuries and suspensions at the moment... here's a list:
-Vermaelen
-Sagna
-Wilshere
-Gibbs
-Diaby
-Squillaci
-Bendtner
-Song
-Gervinho
-Frimpong
and now Jenkinson, who received two yellow cards today...

Want to finish with some good news, we have now scored in the league!

Udinese vs. Arsenal & Champions League Draw

2-1, Champions League Play-off, Stadio Friuli, 24/9 -11
van Persie 55,
Walcott 69

Amazing team performance throughout the game and what a comeback in the second half after being 1-0 down at half-time. This was just what we needed after some harsh weeks where we've lost both Fabregas and now Nasri.

We had a good first half but unfortunately found ourselves one-nil down just before half-time, and the second half didn't start much better as Udinese got a penalty just after half-time, fortunately Sczcesny saved the penalty and we didn't look back!Through some brilliant work from Gervinho, van Persie scored his first for the 11/12 campaign!
Not too long after that Walcott more or less sealed the game through a great strike by the young Englishman!

After Walcott's goal Udinese didn't ever look too likely to get back in the game and a great victory in the end for us!

So, looking ahead to the group stage, we will be facing Marseille, Olympiacos and Dortmund. Its a decent draw, we should definitely qualify from it!

Injury Update;
-Gibbs will miss the United clash as well, same goes for Wilshere.
-Diaby is still out as well as the suspended ones (Frimpong, Song & Gervinho).

Arsenal vs. Liverpool

0-2, Premier League, Emirates, 20/8 -11

I have a feeling that this is not to be our season... Injuries, red cards, suspensions and now decisive own goals...
We deserved so much more than a defeat by two goals, we didn't look too likely to score but the defence was stunning! Defensively we've looked really good so far this season, lots of that is down to Vermaelen, he was amazing today, MOTM by far!

The first half was really tight and even, with no one looking more likely to score than the other, unfortunately we lost a bit of momentum when Koscielny picked up what looked like a back injury after just about fifteen minutes, Miquel came in to replace him and he did great!

Frimpong was sent off in the second half after receiving a second yellow card, but we managed just fine even though we were down to ten men, until the decisive moment when Miquel was clearing the ball from our box and it bounced off Ramsey's shoulder into goal.

As I mentioned earlier we never looked likely to score, and that didn't change after conceding one and in the dying minutes Liverpool sealed the game.

So back to the dreadful feeling you get after/during a defeat... Not a good start to the season but am hoping that the team is feeling better than I am at the moment so we might at least get to see some Champions League games this season..

Injury Update;
-Gibbs and Djourou both have hamstring strains, Djourou will hopefully be back for the trip to Italy, but Gibbs will be out for a week or more longer.
-Wilshere might be back for sometime next week, fingers crossed!
-Rosicky has a thigh problem but looks to be back for next week, same goes for Traore who has a slight groin problem.
-No news concerning Diaby.

Arsenal vs. Udinese

1-0, Champions League: Play-off 1st leg, Emirates, 16/8 -11
Walcott 4

A truly exciting match with plenty of chances for both teams! Szczesny was, by far, our MOTM, he saved us many times in this game, but good for us to get the clean sheet once again. Van Persie has, as was expected, been announced as Captain now, but as both he and Nasri was suspended, as well as Wenger, who had to watch the game from the stands.

Walcott looked really good throughout the game as well, and deservedly put us in front after just four minutes! A good cross into the box from Ramsey was put in the back of the net by the young Englishman at the near post!

We had a really good first half, but unfortunately we dropped our level a bit in the second half and didn't provide a display equal to that of the first half. That could be a bit down to the fact that we had three injuries, the first was Gibbs who was replaced by Djourou at half-time, who, after ten minutes, had to be replaced by Jenkinson due to injury. And, after 73 minutes, Rosicky had to go off, with Frimpong replacing him.

So we've still got a lot of job to do in the return game next week, but an encouraging display and now Liverpool at the Emirates is up ahead.

Also, sad to hear that Eboue has joined Galatasaray.

Injury Update;
-Djourou and Gibbs are both doubts for the Liverpool game, but it doesn't appear to be too serious injuries.

Cesc Fabregas join Barcelona

Sad to hear that Arsenal announced Cesc's departure last night, after 8 years, 303 appearances, 57 goals and 81 assists its now time to say goodbye.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank Cesc, thank him for introducing me to Arsenal F.C, and through that, changing my life in more ways than one can ever imagine.

During my years supporting Arsenal I have, occasionally (especially during last summer), pictured how I'd react to his inevitable departure - because the one thing we all new during the years was that it would happen before long - I can proudly say that I haven't shed a tear, I've just been thinking of how sad it is for us to lose such a good player as well as our captain. And this made me truly realize that, to me, the Club will always be bigger than any player in the world!

So farewell Cesc, and good luck!

Newcastle vs. Arsenal

0-0, Premier League, St James' Park, 13/8 -11

Decent result for the first game of the season all things considered. The one thing that is beyond me, however, is how Barton got away without being sent off whilst Gervinho was shown red at once! So to explain the situation: Gervinho goes down in the box due to a challenge from Tioute (which should've been a penalty!), and then along comes Barton, Barton drags Gervinho up by the collar of his shirt, obviously Gervinho gets enraged and lightly slaps Barton in the face, who then, several seconds after the hit, goes down! and that is not enough, he later constantly insists that he was punched in the face! Outrageous!

But thankfully we held on to the point and can at least be pleased with that. Unfortunate for Gervinho though, to be sent off because of somebody else's folly.

We had the most possession throughout the game, and some chances but by far didn't create enough for Arsenal Football Club! Sad to say that that might, to some part, be down to the fact that neither Fabregas nor Nasri played today, Cesc is reportedly done for Barcelona and Nasri is still uncertain. Beside from that we missed Wilshere who was out through injury.

Robin van Persie captained the club for the game, as he is the vice-captain, but it looks as though he will keep the captaincy long-term now. He didn't get quite that many chances in this game though, and looked a bit lonely up front unfortunately.

So it looks as though we're still missing some going forward (which isn't like us) but good news as to the defence, we looked quite solid today actually! So let's just take all the encouragement that we can from this game!

Injury Update;
-Wilshere missed this game through injury, but it doesn't appear to be long-term, so he'll hopefully be back next week or something like that.
-Diaby has a slightly more long-term injury but looks to be back in September.

Benfica vs. Arsenal

1-2, Pre-season; Eusebio Cup, Estadio da Luz, 6/8 -11
van Persie 33

Disappointing end to the pre-season,, yet the result isn't too bad,, whats worse is that we have picked up quite a few injuries this summer,, which isn't exactly ideal a week before the season start...

Van Persie has looked really good this summer, so it wasn't too much of a surprise when he put us ahead after receiving the ball from Gibbs.

Didn't get to watch the game as I was away, but we took the lead into half-time but lost the game in the second half.

The Emirates Cup

Arsenal vs. Boca Juniors
2-2, Emirates Stadium, 30/7 -11
van Persie 29,
Ramsey 46

Didn't get to see any of the games as I was in Spain with a friend during the tournament. Have seen the highlights though, and Gervinho seem to be linking up nice with van Persie, as he provided a great assist for the first goal. Just after half time Ramsey scored through a great strike but we didn't manage to keep things tight and in the end the game finished all square.

Arsenal vs. New York Red Bulls
1-1, Emirates Stadium, 31/7 -11
van Persie 42

Thierry Henry started the game for NY Red Bulls, and recieved a warm welcome. He was highly involved in the equalizer that they produced in the final minutes through an unfortunate own goal by Bartley. It was van Persie, however, who started the scoring when he scored a header in the first half. Once again we didn't quite manage to hold on to the lead and therefore Henry got to lift the trophy at the Emirates for New York Red Bulls.

Injury Update;
-Both Wilshere and Walcott picked up injuries, but both are expected to be better in a some days time.
-Fabregas is back in training but didn't feature in the tournament, partly due to the Barcelona situation.
